AAWLC
ACCOMPLISHMENTS!
(the rewards of commitment)
While we are delighted to share with you the accomplishments below that we have made over the past months, we ask that you take time while you are here to watch the short film to the right of the screen to see just how far we still have to go (especially in the USA).  Write to us and let us know your thoughts.

E. Africa Congress August 2009:
Under the leadership of Ruth Amolo, the women of the East Africa Congress successfully hosted a two-day pre-parliamentary event in Kisumu Kenya for the Council of a Parliament for the World's Regions.  Again, we salute you all for your hard work and dedication to the people of East Africa!

Even before the August pre-parliament event was held, they were requested to work with several people in Somalia who were also interested in hosting an event.  This was a major opportunity as well as recognition of their ability to reach across national (state) lines to collaborate, negotiate and offer assistance to others who are interested in stretching themselves to reach out for peace and understanding.

Keep coming back here for more details as they are available.

U.S. Congress July 2009:
We have failed to listed the names of our U.S. Congress members who have been steadily growing.  The jog to our memory happened this month when we were graced with a leader from Ohio.  So, we will begin with her and keep going:

Jamia Shepherd - Ohio Congress President
Karen A. Ford - Illinois Congress President
Rev. B. L. King - Illinois Congress E.D.
Valerie McDonald - Virginia Congress President
Rev. Carol Amos - Michigan Congress E.D.

May we continue to be of service and grow where ever we are.

E. Africa Congress June 2009:
After designing and hosting a successful training program for the girls in Alendu the participants have remained very enthusiastic and together since then.   In light of this outcome, a "Healthy Girls Club" has been established.   Students are also being identified for the PeacePort Program in collaboration with AGNT in California, U.S.A.   Additionally, a Child Rights program is being established within the same school which will be open to the entire community.

W. Africa Congress May 2009:
Our search is over for the West Africa Congress leader.  Her name is Mrs. Victoria Wollie.  She came highly recommended and is more than qualified to take the helm for the West Africa region.  Pages will be here about her and the goals of AAWLC-West Africa very soon.  So, so come back and visit us often.

E. Africa Congress April 2009:
Selected one of the Office Bearers of Girl Child Network(GCN) which is basically dealing with girls issues i.e. sexual and abuse offenses.  Street children in a programme called 'diversion' where Children who are errants in the community are taken to those centres which act as rehabilitation centres.  In these centres, counseling is done and later the organization attached to them through GCN provides empowerment to them in various areas where the girls feel they can fit in for example tailoring schools some are even taken back to school.
Another step our organization has taken so far is by being associated with the GCN we therefore automatically become beneficiary of any activities done under the Umbrella of this group of over ten Community-based organizations joined together.
28 May 2009, met with GCN Donor who came to audit the projects so far initiated by the GCN under the Umbrella of Western Chapter meaning western and Nana province.   Especially on this date, Lend Mixed where we have started the "Girl Child Health Programme" of promoting health education and sanitary towel distribution among the girls was one of the Showcase programmes of the GCN project by virtue of our organization being the trainer and being a registered Member of the GCN Western Chapter.

Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality.  Commitment is the word that speaks boldly of your intentions and the actions which speak louder than the words.   Commitment is making the time when there is none; coming through time after time after time, year after year after year.  Commitment is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism.  Take courage and join us today.
